it’s monday. it’s a very depressing monday. it’s a particularly depressing monday because i’m inside an office with no natural light while there’s a glorious sun outside. it’s even worse because the friends that i went camping with on the weekend are still camping (don’t you just hate people on holidays?) while i have to be at work.

yes, i went camping! the phrase “i’ve never been camping in my life” no longer applies! “mall girl” slept with the bugs and in sweet harmony with mother nature. well, only sort of. a stupid cicada left me nearly in tears because it wouldn’t leave me alone while i was doing the dishes at the campsite and c. and m. had to think twice before showing me photos of a possum that showed up near the tent while i was away. i love mother nature but i don’t feel the need to get all that involved with it.

still, the weekend was oh-so-awesome! when c. first suggested that we should all get on a jetboat and pay $85 to see a hole in a rock i couldn’t really understand the enthusiasm that everyone expressed. but seriously, it was so damn cool! forget the hole in the rock (even if yes, it is quite impressive), the cool thing was really the 1h30 ride on the jetboat!

plus, i got to play dead on the beach - which has to be my all-time favourite summer hobby! two mint ice-creams (have i mentioned how much i love mint ice-cream?), a lot of fish & chips and some camping food later, it’s fair to say that it was an excellent weekend enjoying the best of kiwiland.

i’m not even going to comment on the fact that i got up at 3am to head up to paihia. because, you know, that would ruin the whole positive effect that the weekend had on me. and lets not mention the fact that i got my face sunburnt and i feel like my nose is about to fall off. now excuse me while i go and moisturise the crap out of it.

Nose aside, possum aside, non natural light aside, work aside, it’s summer!!! I would happily live with all of the above for summer. Not least because here there is a massive storm, rain and cold :(

Glad you had a lovely time :)
