WRITTEN ON January 29th, 2009 BY kiwivera AND STORED IN kiwiland
i could have a whole other blog just about the kiwi sense of humour and how kiwis always have a funny way to do things. it really is one of my favourite things about kiwiland.
i get loads of examples of the kiwi sense of humour every day. for example, yesterday, after ordering something online from a kiwi website, i got the following confirmation email:
Just to let you know that your order is on its way to you now so you can stop climbing the walls in anticipation!
It was dispatched on the 28/01/2009 and you should receive it within the next 1 or 2 days.
If you live out in the sticks or in certain parts of the South Island maybe allow some additional time just in case.If the suspense is too much you can also track your order’s location in transit using the following details to view the package status:
(…)
If it’s not showing straight away don’t panic, it’ll just be that we’ve been so keen to let you know your bargain is on its way that Courier Post haven’t had a chance to update their system yet. If you check a little later it will be showing.
i’m not sure if it’s clear what i mean but if this was a confirmation order from portugal, it would sound a lot more formal and serious. kiwis just take everything like this.
there are a billion examples that could illustrate what i mean (and i’ll probably post them all as i think of them or find new ones). one of them was already mentioned on this blog at some point - murder burger. seriously, take a moment to read the menu and check the times when they’re open, for example.
finally, another example of the kiwi humour i found today: Saverjet.com - flights from auckland to the general sydney area from $40. the whole website is hilarious.
alright, time to do some work now.

Belated Waitangi Day! Hope you’re having a lovely time out in the sunshine!
