Hot cross buns and cadbury creme eggs. Chilly evenings at the campsite, with baked beans on toast. A city girl that now knows how to pitch a tent. Returning to the top of the island and watching the oceans meet again. The angry Tasman and the quiet Pacific. And a sunset to die for, with more colours than the ones I can list here. Reading a book with my feet on the grass and drinking lemonade from a plastic cup. Finding surprisingly good coffee on the side of the road - a desperate attempt to stay awake. Saying goodbye to my first southern hemisphere summer, wearing jandals all day. Worrying about nothing, for a change. Feeling even further from everything, in a place with limited to no cell phone coverage. A four day weekend with an easter egg hunt. Trying Terry’s chocolate oranges and wishing I had done so a long time ago. Missing home but keeping traditions (stayed away from meat on good Friday). It’s not poetry. It was Easter in kiwiland.
