It’s New Zealand Book Month! In keeping with that spirit, I thought I’d write a general post of how my year is going, as far as books are concerned.
I’ve been a bookworm pretty much ever since I learnt to read. One of my biggest disappointments in life is that I’m a really slow reader and can’t seem to be able to train myself to get faster so that I can read more books.
Anyway, I’ve been lucky with my book choices this year so far. Amongst others, my favourite books read this year (and the ones I’d totally recommend to anyone looking for the next book to read) are, in no particular order:
- The Time Traveler’s Wife, Audrey Niffenegger
- The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, John Boyne
- Man in the Dark, Paul Auster
- Where Am I Wearing, Kelsey Timmerman
I liked them each for different reasons and I know - from looking at my To Read pile - that the list of favourites will get new additions before the end of the year.
My New Zealand Book Month resolution (that I plan to keep beyond October) is to read more books by Kiwi writers (especially more contemporary ones). I’ll be sure to spread the word about them here too!
